Thomas M. Rapone – Vice President of bc&j solutions, LLC

 As a training professional, Mr. Rapone has over 25 years of experience in the design and delivery of education & training programs with government, non-profit, and corporate clients.  He is the co-developer of The Smart Negotiator training program and has delivered it internationally, in Belgium, Brazil, Canada, India and the UK.  Mr. Rapone is an outstanding motivational speaker.  His unique style captures the attention of the attendees while he adapts the message to their specific needs.

As part of a competitive bid process, Lockheed Martin Shared Services selected bc&j solutions, LLC as a preferred vendor for the delivery of negotiation training.  The Smart Negotiator has also been delivered as part of the Presidential Leadership Program for General Dynamics ATP.

Fortune 500 companies in the technical community find him to be particularly valuable, especially those in the defense and manufacturing industries including: A.T. Kearney; BAE Systems, Caterpillar, Delphi, Ford Motor Corporation, General Dynamics, Honeywell, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and The Irving Group.

As an Assistant Professor of Speech Communication he published Using History to Teach Small Group Communication in The Speech Teacher. In  1996 he received an outstanding teaching award at George Mason University.  In June of 1994, he was one of only 18 scholars nationwide to be selected by CSPAN for the development of a college level resouce guide to accompany the reenactments of the Lincoln Douglas Debates.  He has served on the board of the Eastern Communication Association and the Virginia Association of Communication Arts & Sciences.  He successfully negotiated deals that brought the Russian and British Debate teams to Northern Virginia as part of their American tours in 1996 & 1997.  In the 1980’s he was involved in labor negotiations in Washington, DC on behalf of tour guides, bus drivers and chauffeurs.  He spent eight years as a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters local 922.

Mr. Rapone graduated from the State University of New York at Geneseo and received a Master of Arts from the State University of New York at Brockport in Rhetoric & Public Address.  The Virginia Supreme Court Office of Dispute Resolution granted him certification as a mediator in the General District Court of the Commonwealth of Virginia. He specializes in labor, landlord tenant, and workplace disputes.
